Tour of Teddington Studios

The T-Room goes on location to the hallowed halls where T-Bag's adventures were filmed

So how exciting is this? I managed to secure an all-access private tour of the very studios where T-Bag's adventures were filmed in their entirety. We toured through the very studio that saw Tallulah's T-Room collapse in "Strikes Again"; T-Shirt, Sally and the High T-Lady cowering as Tallulah threatened them with her newly acquired powers of the universe; not to mention all the other countless adventures that kept us running home from school and frantically fumbling for our blank video cassettes in time to record the long awaited next episode.

The gentleman that led our tour was Ray Gearing, Teddington's Studio Manager, who was an absolute mine of interesting facts and reminiscences about the golden era of Thames Television. I must thank him most sincerely for his time and generosity in letting us in. He gave up practically a whole morning for us!

Main Reception in Broom Road.

This photo is taken from Broom Road also. The white wall with the pitched corrugated iron roof in the foreground is Studio 3. The slightly higher roof behind it is part of Studio 2. The building with the slate roof to the right is the green room for Studio 3 and also the tech gallery.

With nervous excitement, we entered the building to be faced with the well-lit, modern reception area. The two receptionists were very friendly and welcoming, and asked us to sign the book to get our security passes. As we signed the book, my sister noticed that Bill Bailey was (or had recently been) in the building and was receiving a visitor. She is a big fan, so this immediately peaked her interest. The sign above the reception desk detailed what was going on in each of the eight studios. Studio 3 was set for rehearsal that day, Studio 2 was undergoing derig (when they clear out the studio), as was Studio 1.
