This costume featured in "Wonders in Letterland". Raymond tells me that this was the very first design sketch. The costume was made from various satins, the jacket being made from a harlequin patterned satin.

Interestingly, it can be seen from the sketch that the Gardener was suppoesd to carry a cane and wear a top hat. This never happened, however.
